Phoenix Rising Into Pop Greatness

Phoenix released thier newest album "It's Never Been Like That" a few weeks ago. It's being sold on Arts & Crafts even though it is a Virgin record. If you've been on iTunes for a while you may remember their single "Everything is Everything" released for free two summers ago. I was one of those folks who found it there and would throw that song on a random playlist every once in a while because I found it enjoyably infectious. That was the only song I heard for two years until a friend of mine gave me a copy of their newest album which Pitchfork generously gave an 8.0. I don't know about an 8 but this album is good. After two listens it reminds me very much of Spoon. It has the driving rocking beats but also the hooks that stick in your head. By the way it looks like these guys are French so if your a real patriot you wouldn't even look at these guys. I guess even people coming from the country of Freedom know pop music pretty well.

The Little Ones Sing Songs

The Little Ones are from LA and I found out about them on an impulse iTunes purchase. I had a few extra dollars left on a gift certificate and I liked what they were being compared to plus their cover art looked like the same artist as the Shins - Chutes Too Narrow. Someone on iTunes compared them to Arcade Fire, Death Cab, and the Shins. I wouldn't completely agree with that but it is none-the-less catchy pop music. It doesn't look like they have any kind of full length project planned right away but you can catch them live if you need more after these mp3s. They're playing the Mercury Lounge in New York next week and then a bunch of free shows in LA.
Check out Rewriteable Content for a better post on these guys.

Upright Citizens Brigade - Seasons 2 and 3 On YouTube

What will the adwizards come up with next? Someone has uploaded the complete second and third seasons of UCB onto YouTube. Now I have them all in .avi format and on some crappy DVD but for those of you without access to these two seasons I recommend you watch them here. Some of the episode names are wrong but what do you expect these people are amateurs. Go buy season one from amazon because this was the best show Comedy Central every did. Watch Dog Bites Man while you're at it too because after the first two episodes I think it's pretty darn good.

Back To The Tsirku in AK

I finally made it back to Alaska. It took a week and a half of driving but I'm finally here in Haines and I just went down the Tsirku river for the first time in a while. I've had a lot of time to listen to a lot of music and traded things with Will and Josh. The best music I've heard so far has been Why? off of Anticon records and the new Smoosh off of Barsuk is interesting. I'm going to do my best to keep this blog updated but while I'm working on the river it's going to be tough. I have a ton of music to filter through and see what I like.

From The Big Apple To California

In case you haven't noticed I haven't been updating this blog as consistantly as I once did. The main reason for that is I just graduated college and I'm in a transition period. Right now I am in Madison, WI with two of my cousins getting ready to go see the next Pixar adventure Cars. Our parents cousin Eben Fiske Otsby works on the films so we always make a point to see them in the theaters.

How the hell did I get to Wisconsin?
Well thats a curious question. I'olely a way to amuse myself with a digital braindumping.

Have fun!of this blog is to allow me to freelly expose what I think or feel about anything going on in my Mind.

This will be solely a way to amuse myself with a digital braindumping.

Have fun!
