Springbreak 2006

I just returned from my spring break. An epic 25 hour drive straight back from Florida to Maine. Of course the iPod was playing non-stop for the majority of the trip. When there are 6 guys in a mini van sometimes it can be hard to figure out what music everyone will enjoy. The good thing is most of my music is enjoyed by at least 4 out of 6 of us. It's also a great feeling when it's your ipod that all the music is coming from because you put the music there so there is a lower chance you won't like what is being played. Here are the stats for our trip, some of the data is missing but this is the majority of it.

Most Played Artist: Jay-Z: A lot of the black and grey album with a little bit of unplugged and blueprint mixed it.
Broken Social Scene, Neil Young, and Sufjan Stevens come in the top as well.

Most Played Tracks: Broken Social Scene - Shorline
Jay-Z - 99 Problems
Pearl Jam - Unemployable
Beat Radio - Treetops

We listened to over 150 different artists and over 1000 songs for the whole 10 days. It was an experience but I'm glad I won't be driving that far for some time now. Sorry to anyone who might read this that missed me but I'm back. I'm ready to dive into more of 2006's music. Right now I'm digging the new Yeah Yeah Yeah's album especially the track "Phenomena".

Rob Corddry: The Day in the Life of a Racist

Someone finally uploaded this on youtube. It's the genius sketch from Daily Show last week in which Rob Corddry explores what it is to be discriminated against as a racist.

BEAT RADIO: The Ecstatic EP Available Now

CD Baby: BEAT RADIO: The Ecstatic EP
If you've ever happened upon this blog then you've probably seen that I like to rant and rave about whatever music is making me happy. Beat Radio is one of those bands that caught my attention back in September and I haven't been able to get them out of my head since. Up until today there was no way you could actually purchase there music. Now they have The Ecstatic EP available via CDBaby. Their low-fi indie sound will hook you with catchy lyrics and memorable melodies. Brian captures a feeling with every song that will make you Ecstatic. Order this CD now and download some tracks now to hold you over.

The Daily Show: Rob Corddry Is A Racist

Today on The Daily Show they did an amazing bit on race. Rob Corddry did a segment in which he explained to the world what it is to be discriminated against as a racist. Corddry interviewed black radical Manning Marable whom I don't know would approve of the sketch. When the video surfaces on the internet I'll find it on youtube or something and post it. If you can catch one of the many reruns on Comedy Central. I can't really explain the sketch without sounding like a racist myself so watch it yourself and be the judge. I think it is genius.

The Boy Least Likely to Have A Video And A B-Side

I've become quite The Boy Least Likely To fan. They sing what some describe as kindergarden pop. If you like The Shins, you'd probably like these guys. They hail from the UK and the album is available in US via iTunes. I think hard copies of the album The Best Party Ever will be available in the US fairly soon. Until then check ou the video for Be Gentle with Me. It's got puppets and people floating. Also listen to the B-Side Rock Upon A Porch With You. It will remind you of being young and old at the same time.

Wolf Parade - I'll Believe in Anything Video

Thanks to largeheartedboy I came across this video for Wolf Parade and their song "I'll Believe in Anything". It's a live video but well edited and fun to watch. The mix of the sound isn't that good but it ends up sounding a lot like the album. You can't hear the second vocalist or anything the bassist is hitting. Thanks to quicktime pro I downloaded it and now you can download it fromo my yousendit link below. Enjoy!

The video can also be found on their myspace.

The More You Know - April Fools

NBC.com > The Office
If you remember the "More You Know" PSA's that they used to run on NBC years ago during your favorite cartoons, then you'll love these. "The Office" did a whole series of them for April Fools Day. Watch them all because who knows, their advice could save your life some day.
