If you are deaf you probably already use IP relay but if you're not or you don't have any friends or family that are deaf you probably don't. Today I recieved a call on my cellphone from (612)547-0006 and a guy told me I was about to get a phone call from someone typing on a computer. They need to make people register for this service because right now I guarantee more than 50% of the calls through it are prank calls. The call I recieved was a prank, it was my step-brothers roomates calling everyone on his cellphone and just fucking with them. Well I was already emotionally unstable enough today so it didn't help me and it pushed me over the edge. The moral of this story is unless you know a deaf person don't answer a phone call from 6125470006. Even if you know a deaf person you better make sure that you can trust them because they could be pranking it too. Imagine hearing the operator say something like, "hey Jerky". By the way they do have to say absolutely everything you type which is horrible. I was reading some horrible stuff that people make these people say.
Closer Look at the New MacBookPro

A hands-on look at the new MacBook Pro - Computerworld
Computer world gives us a great indepth look at the new computer to be shipped next month. He says, "this baby cooks" which is to be expected. There are some good new modifications, the magsafe power connector sounds like it works well and the airport antenae was moved for better reception. If I hadn't just purchased a Powerbook back in July I would definitely get one of these instead.
rant of the day language and thought
who decided what how and why we should structure our writing was it just a long process of trial and error and then someone decided that sounds good that is right who decided that they had the right to say that this is the way it will be done and anyone not doing it this way is wrong i want to use capitals and periods right now but im holding myself back in my head i dont use any capitals in my head i try not to even think in words but i cant without language can we think without structure can we create coherent ideas or explain them to other people what ever happened to actions speak louder than words what if they had thought of that earlier in the development of language would we have no language i dont know shit but im just throwing all this out there because it frustrates me that im stuck with the language i know and the way i can express myself its kind of suffocating because i know there is more i could be expressing i dont want to say saying because thats not what i want to do i guess art is more of the answer of expression i just need to find a what to do it myself

Album of the Week: The Most Serene Republic - Underwater Cinematography

Arts and Crafts Records: The Most Serene Republic
Underwater Cinematography
I decided I'm going to choose a new album each week that I am listening to and I want to promote. This weeks album comes from Arts and Crafts records home of many a great Canadian bands such as Broken Social Scene, and Feist. I came across these guys when I downloaded a live BSS show and TMSR had opened for them. Their music is in some ways like the New Pornographers, Postal Service/Death Cab for Cutie, and Broken Social Scene. The layered high vocals definitely are reminiscent of Ben Gibbard and A.C. Newman. Some of the instrumental stuff sounds a little synthesized and after listening to the first full track on the album I can't help but think of it coming right off the next Postal Service album while the second track could come from an early Death Cab album. This album came out last year and was completely off my radar. I recommend if you like any of the other bands I mentioned you go to your local record store, digital retailer, or Art's and Crafts.ca and pick it up.
Tonight Let's Dance has a download for one of the tracks and also compares them to Kings of Convenience.
Karl Pilkington on Infinity
If you don't listen to the Ricky Gervais show podcast you should be. Karl Pilkington is a confused comic genius. I'm not sure if it is all part of his character in the public or if he really as dense as he seems. This is a video clip I found on youtube, just a nice conversation with Ricky and Karl on the concept of infinity.
On other radio news Music: The Gathering is on today from 4-6PM on 91.5 WRBC, Bates College Radio.

Improving With Our Cellphones

Chris Cary graced us with his pressence at Bedfellows rehearsal today. He taught us a bunch of great ways to clear our minds before scenes, gain a better point of view, and understand status. We took some picture because we're heading to Skidmore on the 10th for a Collegiate Comedy Festival (COMFEST). It's going to be a blast, a whole weekend of improv groups being crazy and having fun. Back to thesis, only 5billion pages to go.
Ebaums World Gets a USA TV Show
If you ever saw the G.I. Joe PSA's, or any other humorous video from the internet you've seen ebaumsworld. I think I first found it 5 or 6 years ago because they were hosting some fun soundboards that we'd prank call our friends with. It will be interesting to see what they show on the TV show because a lot of the stuff will probably be hard to get rights to show. I didn't know it but there are a lot of people that don't like ol' ebaum for instance www.ebaumsworldsucks.com.

iTunes now with Comedy Central and MTV
Apple continues to expand their video content for the sole reason of selling iPods. You can now download, The A-Team, South Park, Beavis and Butthead, plus Nickelodeon stuff, and more MTV stuff. Apple is smart continuing to add more and more content but they won't get me to buy anything until I can get Upright Citizens Brigade from Comedy Central and Arrested Development from Fox. It is so damn easy to use the iTunes store I don't see anyone else beating them unless Microsoft or someone comes up with something extremely revolutionary.

From India Alive and Well

It was good to hear today that my brother who is a Hare Krishna is alive and well in India. He's been there for about 5 months but I think his visa expires soon so he'll have to come back to the states.
On a school related note, I've been watching some good European Art films lately for a class. So far we've watch:
Human Nature - Michel Gondry, Spike Jones, and Charlie Kaufman
Safe - Todd Haynes
La Strada - Fellini
L'Eclisse - Antonioni
The Enigma of Kasper Hauser - Herzog
Fitzcarraldo - Herzog
Tonight I'm watching Fitzcarraldo with a beautiful girl and some thai food. It's 2.5 hours long so we'll need a good intermission.

In addition to all that great music we talked about how boogers are what cause your nose to grow. Your nose eats the boogers and that's why you need to pick it. If you don't pick it it will get fat and then you will need to get a nose job. That's why you see so many women with nose jobs because they don't think it's socially acceptable to pick their nose.
We discussed how we fact check all of our music to make sure that it actually is music. We don't actually do the fact checking but the monkeys/chimpanzees we have running the show do it for us.
And don't watch Crumbs or any kind of TV show with a laugh track, sitcoms like that suck.

The Pirate Peter Sarsgaard (SNL)
This sketch was probably the only redeeming quality of Saturday Night Live last night. Lots of aaar jokes, but worth watching it. Sarsgaard just seemed pretty bland and boring throughout the night.
Put the Art back in Artist
CoverFlow
Ever get depressed because you don't get to see all the beautiful artwork on your iTunes or your iPod. I know you can see it if you choose to but when it comes to browsing through your music you can't browse by cover art. CoverFlow lets you use your Mac OSX to browse your music by cover art. It is in early stages of development but they are supposedly going to be releasing a better version soon.
SNL Digital Short - A Young Chuck Norris
NBC.com > Saturday Night Live
SNL is trying to keep it up with their digital shorts. "Lazy Sunday" was hilarious but "Young Chuck Norris" was a reach. The lyrics didn't rhyme or even sound very good. The video is pretty funny as Andy Samberg playing the young Chuck Norris. Sarsgard was rough last night, he had a lot of mess ups had trouble reading a few times. The sketch with him in the hotel room the TV went out, but that sketch probably had the most promise. I didn't even watch "I'm Carol" because I just find Horatio Sanz to be really annoying in it and not very funny at all.

Showtime Really Wants to be 'Arrested'

TV Gal - Showtime's "Arrested" developments...
Moviehole - New 'Development' over at Showtime
Comingsoon.net - Shotime Arrested Talks Confirmed
Everyone is talking about saving Arrested Development and it looks extrememly hopeful. Showtime is smart with their demands because they only want the show if they get the creative genius, Mitch Horwitz with the show. The fate of Arrested Development is going to come down to Mitch's decision, if he wants it, its his, if not we will all have 3 seasons and 53 episodes to watch over and over. Whatever Mitch decides I respect it but another 26 episodes on Showtime could never hurt, could it?

YouTube: A Great Video Service
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
I came across YouTube the other day when I was looking for the Will Arnett on Conan video. I've given it a try and it is very simple to use and pretty cool actually. You can post any video you want as long as it is under 100MB and it doesn't break any copyright laws. Once you upload an .avi, .mov, or .mpg file they automatically convert it to work with their player. The service is quick and as far as I can tell they host it permanently. Here is an other sample of a short I was involved with for a campaign to fight off the privatization of waste management in my local area.

Brian of Beat Radio Solo Acoustic Show
Brian Sendrowitz of Beat Radio will be playing a solo acoustic show at the Bowery Poetry Club on Saturday, January 21st at 6PM. I've been ranting and raving about Brian's band Beat Radio since September. If you were to only download one song of Beat Radio download treetops (ep version). Once you hear it though you're going to want more, so head over to http://www.beatradio.org/mp3s.html to download 8 ep demos and two tracks of their forthcoming album The Great Big Sea. If you're in New York this weekend try to check Brian out solo.
Will Arnett On Conan Hilarious!!
Click the video to start it.
I figured this deserves its own post because it is so good. Will Arnett was out of control. He refers to his show, "Invested Development" on CBS and also gives a sneak peak of his new pilot, "Give Me A Breaksville". Conan and he play the whole thing like a perfect straight man/crazy man improv scene. Will doesn't break character for a momoent. The video is 11 minutes long and it's completely worth the load time.
You can catch will in the Chris Parnell part too.

TV Week Reports Arrested Development Offers on the Table
TV Week
People have been blogging about this but no one has been citing any sources and that really pisses me off especially when news like this is exciting. This is all according to Tvweek.com and I have no idea how legitimate they are. I hope what they say is true but until Fox really cancels it, which is going to happen soon because the president pretty much said so the other day, nothing can be picked up. What do you think Showtime? Would you pay for it? I don't think I would but I'd still find ways to watch it. ABC? Easily accessible and available to more people. I'd go ABC but who the hell am I to say anything.
Will Arnet was on Conan the other day and you can enjoy the video right here.
http://www.youtube.com/?v=cGoA_K7itO8
"A few weeks ago, news broke that Showtime and ABC were vying for the presumably canceled Fox comedy "Arrested Development." Turns out ABC offered producers Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television a 13-episode commitment to the series, which a network spokesperson has now confirmed. Showtime, meanwhile, has offered a two-year commitment, which would likely translate to 26 episodes. Sources said producers are still mulling both offers. Meanwhile, the series continues to struggle on Fox, with its most recent episode drawing a mere 4.2 million viewers. Sources said an ABC deal, especially in the wake of the show's most recent performance, is unlikely. Last year Fox reduced the third-season order of "Arrested" from 22 to 13 episodes. Though the show has not been officially canceled, the reduction triggered a clause in the show's contract enabling producers to shop the series elsewhere."

People Are Hearing the Wolf Call to Save Arrested Development

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT :: FOX Broadcasting Company
Entertainment Weekly published this image in this weeks issue of their magazine. It appears obsessive bloggers aren't the only ones who care about saving this genius show. The picture of Buster is pretty hilarious in itself but it's nice to see some mainstream press give a shout out to Arrested Development. It will be interesting to see what Fox has to say come February 20th when only 2 million people will watch it and 5 million will DVR it because of the Olympics. Part of me wants the show to die now so it can live a legacy of comic genius and not die out. The other part of me needs the show like a heroin junky and I need a 4th, 5th, to the nth season to keep me sane and so I don't get withdrawl.

Collectively Animals Touring
paw tracks | tour info
One more of my recently addicted bands is on tour this spring as well, Animal Collective. These guys can be hard to get into with a lot of weird sounds coming together to deliver quite a new experience when it comes to listening to music. It may be kind of Specter wall of soundish, but who am I to draw any real comparisons, I'm just some college student with extra time that he shouldn't be wasting blogging but he does anway. The tour dates so far are below:

Olympic Gold Medal for Arrested Development
Entertainment News - [TV Guide Online]
SAVE THE BLUTHS
Well let's see how we can take this one, Fox has decided to air all 4 final episodes of Arrested Development against the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. Thanks Fox, I'm sure your doing this because the Olympics are going to be fucking boring and you want people to watch AD instead. Good choice Fox, I really hope someone else picks up AD and makes it huge and then you will be left saying, "Damn why didn't we ever advertise that show?... I guess people actually liked it." Tell your friends to forget about the Olympics and watch Arrested Development instead, it is definitely going to be funnier than anything they do on the opening ceremonies, unless you find able bodied peoples walking around with flags, and torches.

"OUT OF THE BLUTH: Fox has announced a Friday, Feb. 10, two-hour season finale — that's what the memo says, season finale — for Arrested Development. In the season finale — that's what the memo says, season finale — Fast Times at Ridgemont High's Judge Reinhold will guest-star, as well as Arrested headliner Jason Bateman's real-life sis, Family Ties alum Justine Bateman, playing a woman who may or may not be Michael's half-sister."

Upright Citizens Brigade - ASSSCAT 3000 in Forbes
David Serchuk On Media - Forbes.com
David Serchuk from Forbes magazine knows what's up when it comes to improv. Long form is a thousand times better than short form and Upright Citizens Brigade are a bunch of genius's. Only if some hip exec would actually get a hint and pick this thing up.
"Long-form improvised comedy goes nationwide. Long-form improv is the big brother to short form, which hit with the Americanized British-born TV show, Whose Line Is It Anyway? But long form has more sophisticated characters and themes, and, well, it’s longer. So far TV has resisted it, but that’s going to change. New York’s long-form masters, the Upright Citizens Brigade, proved how funny this form can be on the small screen, with their 2005 Bravo special, Assscat 3000. Now some hip exec will figure out how to showcase long form every week and change the way America views comedy forever."

Why No Dual-Layer Superdrive in MacBook Pro?
The Apple Store (U.S.) - MacBook Pro
I'm psyched to see the new Intel Core Duo MacBoor Pro but I think I'm left a little confused. The newest Powerbooks have Superdrive 8x Dual-Layer, but the specs for the new MacBook Pro just says Superdrive (DVD-+RW/CD-RW). I'm guessing that by the time they come out they will have it but isn't anyone else a little bit confused by the lack of dual-layer?

Cartoon Network Disses Fox for Cancelled Shows

Arrested Development
Genious
Cancelled
Maybe We should pick it up?
Won't be the first time we dig through Fox's trash.
Supposedly Cartoon Network aired one of these little tongue and cheek comercials the other night. Cartoon Network would be able to afford Arrested Development plus it's not a cartoon. Who's thinking a Mr. Banana Grabber series? Anyone?

macteens Provides up-the-minute Keynote updates
macteens Lite
Macteens is providing the best updates of Steve Jobs keynote that I can find right now. It looks like as of right now they are only about 10 minutes into it and nothing too exciting has been announced except for classic Saturday Night Live content to be available on the iTunes store.

Save The Bluths
Welcome To www.savethebluths.org
It looks like old fox pulled a quick one on us. After having it up on their website all day that two new episodes of Arrested Development would be on they quickly changed it to two reruns of House. Thanks fox for killing the best show on television, we'll all be sure to thank you when you kill the next good show too.

Mac OS X - Desktop Manager
Desktop Manager 0.5.3 - MacUpdate
This program is perfect! Desktop Manager creates multiple desktops that you can change from one to the other with simple keyboard shortcuts. I have 4 different desktops set up to run Music/Entertainment on one, Firefox on another, one for Word and work related programs, and the final one for iChat. I really got sick of hiding and then having to click on programs I used a lot and this program saves me tons of time. The program is tiny and simple to use. If you enjoy fun transitions you can even make your desktop feel like a cube or plenty of other useless transitions. Try out this program and I guarantee you'll fall in love with it.

1-hour of New Arrested Development Monday!
Get Arrested X2 New as the new attorney puts the Bluths through a mock trial; then Michael thinks he's found his long lost sis.
FOX Broadcasting Company
Fox sure likes to mess with the scheduling of this show. They've been advertising two episodes of House, but don't be fooled. Tomorrow night, Monday, January 9th there will be two brand new episodes of Arrested Development. They are titled "Fakin' It", and "Family Ties". The second one is a joke on Justine Batemen(Jason's Sister) who used to be on Family Ties but it is now possible she is the lost Bluth sister. You're tivo's might not pick this up because of all the confusing scheduling so make sure you double check it. Only 4 episodes left for Fox's order of AD so make sure you tell you're friends.
